“Do not dwell in the past, do not dream of the future, concentrate the mind on the present moment.” – The Buddha
In my life, I would say this this quote from the Buddha has had a profound impact as it has always helped in bringing my focus back to the present moment, regardless of the situation. I firmly believe that there is powerful insight within this quote as we have a tendency to worry about things in the future that have not happened yet or about past choices that we might be regretful of. This way of thinking about past events and potential future events might expend our energy that could be used in helping us become more productive at the present moment by improving on what’s been learned in the past and better preparing for the future.
Focusing on the present moment helps us attain mental calmness as we can then focus on what really matters to us right now rather than traversing through a fog of uncertainty within our minds.
